The Report on Russia’s foreign trade in goods with Taiwan in the third quarter of 2020: exports, imports, products, dynamics.
Russia’s Trade with Taiwan
In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Taiwan totaled $1,393,301,341, up 5.64% ($74,433,183) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.
Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $883,417,057, up 15.17% ($116,376,488) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.
Russia’s imports from Taiwan in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $509,884,284, down 7.60% ($41,943,305) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.
Russia’s trade surplus with Taiwan in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $373,532,773, a 73.56% increase ($158,319,793) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.
Taiwan was Russia’s 21st largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 25th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 1.0202% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.7951% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).
Taiwan was Russia’s 19th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 31st in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 1.1232% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.7424% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).
Taiwan was Russia’s 24th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.8804% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.8822% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).
Russia’s Exports to Taiwan
The major share of Russian exports to Taiwan in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 51.68% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (41.49% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 45.35% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (51.62% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.98% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (4.92% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).
The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $138,262,504;
- Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $34,218,610;
- Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $4,142,607.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $28,877,524;
- Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $22,560,593.

Russia’s Imports from Taiwan
The major share of Russian imports from Taiwan in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 76.57% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (72.78% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 10.85% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (11.63% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.25% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (9.44% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
- Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.37% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (1.80% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).
