Russia’s Trade with Mexico
In the 4th quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Mexico was $593,235,347, down 11.58% ($77,690,195) from the 4th quarter of 2019.
Russia’s exports to Mexico in the 4th quarter of 2020 were $261,145,587, down 24.72% ($85,734,832) from the 4th quarter of 2019.
Russia’s imports from Mexico in the 4th quarter of 2020 totaled $332,089,760, up 2.48% ($8,044,637) from the 4th quarter of 2019.
Russia’s trade balance with Mexico went from a surplus of $22,835,296 in the 4th quarter of 2019, to a deficit of $70,944,173 in the 4th quarter of 2020.
Mexico was Russia’s 47th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2020 (down from 46th in the 4th quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.3661% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3730% in the 4th quarter of 2019).
Mexico was Russia’s 52nd largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2020 (down from 51st in the 4th quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.2766% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.3102% in the 4th quarter of 2019).
Mexico was Russia’s 35th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2020 (down from 34th in the 4th quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.4910% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.4763% in the 4th quarter of 2019).
Russia’s Exports to Mexico
The major share of Russian exports to Mexico in the 4th quarter of 2020 (and in the 4th quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 66.90% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (60.84% in the 4th quarter of 2019);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 24.21% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (20.42% in the 4th quarter of 2019);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.58% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (2.04% in the 4th quarter of 2019);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.02% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (0.81% in the 4th quarter of 2019);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.65% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (15.44% in the 4th quarter of 2019).

- Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $2,832,416;
- Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $2,806,912;
- Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,832,863.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mexico in the 4th quarter of 2020 over the 4th quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $49,256,824;
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $40,480,909;
- Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $5,372,994;

- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 11.44% of Russia’s total imports from Mexico (9.60% in the 4th quarter of 2019);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.41% of Russia’s total imports from Mexico (6.42% in the 4th quarter of 2019);
