Russia’s Trade with New Zealand

In the 1st quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with New Zealand was $102,875,099, down 57.13% ($137,083,666) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to New Zealand in the 1st quarter of 2021 were $44,378,643, down 71.39% ($110,721,324) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from New Zealand in the 1st quarter of 2021 were $58,496,456, down 31.07% ($26,362,342) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade balance with New Zealand went from a surplus of $70,241,169 in the 1st quarter of 2020, to a deficit of $14,117,813 in the 1st quarter of 2021.

New Zealand was Russia’s 87th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 67th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0666% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1688% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

New Zealand was Russia’s 91st largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 64th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0481% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1743% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

New Zealand was Russia’s 70th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 62nd in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0939% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1596% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to New Zealand

The major share of Russian exports to New Zealand in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 92.79% of Russia’s total exports to New Zealand (98.68% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.48% of Russia’s total exports to New Zealand (0.17% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
