Russia’s Trade with Peru

In the 1st quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Peru totaled $122,735,586, up 8.50% ($9,610,098) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Peru in the 1st quarter of 2021 totaled $54,915,535, up 2.36% ($1,268,506) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Peru in the 1st quarter of 2021 totaled $67,820,051, up 14.02% ($8,341,592) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade deficit with Peru in the 1st quarter of 2021 was $12,904,516, a 121.29% increase ($7,073,086) over the 1st quarter of 2020.

Peru was Russia’s 81st largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2021 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0794% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0796% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Peru was Russia’s 88th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 81st in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0595% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0603% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Peru was Russia’s 68th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 67th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1089% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1119% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Peru

The major share of Russian exports to Peru in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 71.99% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (67.34% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 10.18% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (25.65% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 6.71% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (2.48% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.83% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (1.38% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.73% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (1.69% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.26% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (0.00% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Peru in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $3,621,360;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,759,546;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $1,205,464;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $1,168,179;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $1,161,287;
  • Man-made filaments (HS code 54) - an increase of $672,122;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $627,957;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $590,581;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $469,023;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $211,900.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Peru in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $8,181,105;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $1,704,659;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $487,279;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $232,401.

Russia’s Imports from Peru

The major share of Russian imports from Peru in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 91.63% of Russia’s total imports from Peru (89.19% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.81% of Russia’s total imports from Peru (4.44% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.67% of Russia’s total imports from Peru (2.03% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.65% of Russia’s total imports from Peru (3.27% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Peru in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - a decrease of $1,788,212;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $1,324,004;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - a decrease of $1,208,763;
