Russia’s Trade with the Philippines

In the 1st quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with the Philippines was $208,229,421, down 24.81% ($68,691,775) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2021 were $111,410,627, down 38.37% ($69,374,803) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2021 totaled $96,818,794, up 0.71% ($683,028) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade surplus with the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2021 was $14,591,833, a 82.76% decrease ($70,057,831) over the 1st quarter of 2020.

The Philippines was Russia’s 66th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 60th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1347% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1948% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

The Philippines was Russia’s 70th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 59th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1208% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2032% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

The Philippines was Russia’s 60th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 59th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1554% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1808% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to the Philippines

The major share of Russian exports to the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 79.07% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (27.77% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 8.51% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (65.27% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.49% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (3.49% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.74% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (0.36% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.13% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (2.22% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $37,559,729;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $4,606,445;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $374,550.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $108,334,823;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $2,951,754;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $357,756.

Russia’s Imports from the Philippines

The major share of Russian imports from the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 84.53% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (83.93% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 7.46% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (7.83% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.78% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (3.96% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 2.55% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (2.18% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $451,835;

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $960,864;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $905,744;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $702,641;
  • Lac; gums, resins and other vegetable saps and extracts (HS code 13) - a decrease of $511,752.
