Russia’s Trade with Turkey

In the 1st quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Turkey totaled $6,588,557,163, up 18.15% ($1,012,248,768) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Turkey in the 1st quarter of 2021 totaled $5,193,418,679, up 18.93% ($826,682,662) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Turkey in the 1st quarter of 2021 totaled $1,395,138,484, up 15.34% ($185,566,106) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade surplus with Turkey in the 1st quarter of 2021 was $3,798,280,195, a 20.31% increase ($641,116,556) over the 1st quarter of 2020.

Turkey was Russia’s 7th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 6th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 4.2629% of Russia’s total trade (up from 3.9231% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Turkey was Russia’s 4th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2021 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 5.6293% of Russia’s total exports (up from 4.9075% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Turkey was Russia’s 10th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 9th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 2.2394% of Russia’s total imports (down from 2.2754% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Turkey

The major share of Russian exports to Turkey in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 47.62% of Russia’s total exports to Turkey (57.72% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 22.42% of Russia’s total exports to Turkey (15.07% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 21.48% of Russia’s total exports to Turkey (19.87% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.78% of Russia’s total exports to Turkey (4.16% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
