Russia’s Trade with Turkmenistan

In the 1st quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Turkmenistan was $117,820,928, down 55.49% ($146,888,078) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Turkmenistan in the 1st quarter of 2021 were $83,071,933, down 63.28% ($143,136,714) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Turkmenistan in the 1st quarter of 2021 were $34,748,995, down 9.74% ($3,751,364) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade surplus with Turkmenistan in the 1st quarter of 2021 was $48,322,938, a 74.26% decrease ($139,385,350) over the 1st quarter of 2020.

Turkmenistan was Russia’s 84th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 63rd in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0762% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1862% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Turkmenistan was Russia’s 82nd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 54th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0900% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2542% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Turkmenistan was Russia’s 81st largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 77th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0558% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0724% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Turkmenistan

The major share of Russian exports to Turkmenistan in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 22.22% of Russia’s total exports to Turkmenistan (10.33% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 21.83% of Russia’s total exports to Turkmenistan (62.20% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 21.30% of Russia’s total exports to Turkmenistan (12.69% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 18.58% of Russia’s total exports to Turkmenistan (10.41% in the 1st quarter of 2020);

  • Preparations of vegetables, fruit, nuts or other parts of plants (HS code 20) - an increase of $477,440;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $418,079;
