Russia’s Trade with Uruguay

In the 1st quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Uruguay was $31,054,720, down 32.36% ($14,858,058) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2021 were $5,513,510, down 26.27% ($1,964,877) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2021 were $25,541,210, down 33.55% ($12,893,181) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade deficit with Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2021 was $20,027,700, a 35.30% decrease ($10,928,304) over the 1st quarter of 2020.

Uruguay was Russia’s 109th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 94th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0201% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0323% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Uruguay was Russia’s 127th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 122nd in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0060% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0084% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Uruguay was Russia’s 86th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 78th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0410% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0723% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Uruguay

The major share of Russian exports to Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 65.88% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (76.61% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 19.13% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (11.17% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 7.02% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (2.37% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.32% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (0.34% in the 1st quarter of 2020);

  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $225,666;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $219,178;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $152,497;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $49,275;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $35,408;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $23,657.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $2,497,939;
  • Wool, fine or coarse animal hair; horsehair yarn and woven fabric (HS code 51) - a decrease of $336,073;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $197,527;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $44,075;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $17,934.

Russia’s Imports from Uruguay

The major share of Russian imports from Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 94.63% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (96.23% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.20% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (2.36% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 0.10% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (1.37% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Dairy produce; birds eggs; natural honey; edible products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 04) - a decrease of $14,738,109;
  • Wool, fine or coarse animal hair; horsehair yarn and woven fabric (HS code 51) - a decrease of $499,837;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - a decrease of $282,911;
