Russia’s Trade with Chile

In the 2nd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Chile totaled $226,739,564, up 6.70% ($14,228,302) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $23,195,763, up 36.72% ($6,230,050) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $203,543,801, up 4.09% ($7,998,252) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade deficit with Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2021 was $180,348,038, a 0.99% increase ($1,768,202) over the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Chile was Russia’s 72nd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 68th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1198% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1742% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Chile was Russia’s 108th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 106th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0202% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0243% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Chile was Russia’s 47th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 43rd in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.2742% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.3754% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Chile

The major share of Russian exports to Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 36.96% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (55.74% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 32.88% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (18.47% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 15.36% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (5.13% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 9.70% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (7.33% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.36% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (8.79% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.57% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (1.67% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2021 over the 2nd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $1,778,640;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $912,258;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $693,543;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $663,172;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $444,076;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $418,364;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $403,969;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2021 over the 2nd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $883,740;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - a decrease of $821,309;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $522,451;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $218,948;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $172,017;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - a decrease of $140,001;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $135,491.

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 19.47% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (9.93% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.82% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (10.39% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.49% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (0.56% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
