Russia’s Trade with Costa Rica

In the 2nd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Costa Rica totaled $40,145,846, up 68.19% ($16,276,822) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $12,963,328, up 200.45% ($8,648,703) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $27,182,518, up 39.01% ($7,628,119) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade deficit with Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2021 was $14,219,190, a 6.70% decrease ($1,020,584) over the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Costa Rica was Russia’s 108th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (up from 111th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0212% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0196% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Costa Rica was Russia’s 119th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (up from 127th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0113% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0062% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2021 over the 2nd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

Russia’s Imports from Costa Rica

The major share of Russian imports from Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 58.06% of Russia’s total imports from Costa Rica (52.64% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 37.65% of Russia’s total imports from Costa Rica (37.23% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
