Russia’s Trade with India

In the 2nd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with India totaled $2,914,852,159, up 69.76% ($1,197,800,663) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to India in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $1,897,634,667, up 80.67% ($847,311,068) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from India in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $1,017,217,492, up 52.57% ($350,489,595) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade surplus with India in the 2nd quarter of 2021 was $880,417,175, a 129.52% increase ($496,821,473) over the 2nd quarter of 2020.

India was Russia’s 16th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 1.5402% of Russia’s total trade (up from 1.4073% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

India was Russia’s 16th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 1.6497% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.5022% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

India was Russia’s 17th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (up from 18th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 1.3706% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.2800% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to India

The major share of Russian exports to India in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 35.12% of Russia’s total exports to India (24.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 18.01% of Russia’s total exports to India (24.48% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 16.83% of Russia’s total exports to India (7.83% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 10.74% of Russia’s total exports to India (22.38% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 4.27% of Russia’s total exports to India (6.52% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
