Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In the 2nd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Indonesia totaled $772,295,600, up 48.56% ($252,456,006) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 were $107,162,635, down 7.28% ($8,416,033) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $665,132,965, up 64.53% ($260,872,039) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 was $557,970,330, a 93.28% increase ($269,288,072) over the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Indonesia was Russia’s 41st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (up from 42nd in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.4081% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.4261% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Indonesia was Russia’s 71st largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 61st in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0932% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1653% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Indonesia was Russia’s 24th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (up from 27th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.8962% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.7761% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 36.63% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (38.47% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 33.63% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (25.81% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 15.55% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (27.57% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.98% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (4.02% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.79% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (0.77% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 over the 2nd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $19,267,034;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $11,240,135;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $780,030;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $447,884;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $416,677.

Russia’s Imports from Indonesia

The major share of Russian imports from Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.53% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (11.41% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 10.05% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (10.24% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
