Russia’s Trade with Mexico
In the 2nd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Mexico totaled $941,370,330, up 52.15% ($322,674,008) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.
Russia’s exports to Mexico in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $557,267,736, up 37.47% ($151,881,596) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.
Russia’s imports from Mexico in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $384,102,594, up 80.07% ($170,792,412) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.
Russia’s trade surplus with Mexico in the 2nd quarter of 2021 was $173,165,142, a 9.85% decrease ($18,910,816) over the 2nd quarter of 2020.
Mexico was Russia’s 38th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.4974% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.5071% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).
Mexico was Russia’s 40th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 37th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.4845% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.5798% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).
Mexico was Russia’s 35th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (up from 40th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.5175% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.4095% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).
Russia’s Exports to Mexico
The major share of Russian exports to Mexico in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 64.21% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (76.33% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 32.15% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (18.99% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.69% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (1.24% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.00% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (1.48% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).
The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Mexico in the 2nd quarter of 2021 over the 2nd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $55,951,355;
- Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $32,144,764;
- Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $29,261,137;
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $22,036,859;
- Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $13,305,429;
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $4,397,779.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mexico in the 2nd quarter of 2021 over the 2nd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:
