Russia’s Trade with Mongolia

In the 2nd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Mongolia totaled $412,866,029, up 3.77% ($14,997,189) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Mongolia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $404,517,055, up 4.56% ($17,628,954) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Mongolia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 were $8,348,974, down 23.97% ($2,631,765) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade surplus with Mongolia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 was $396,168,081, a 5.39% increase ($20,260,719) over the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Mongolia was Russia’s 58th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 49th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.2182% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3261% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Mongolia was Russia’s 46th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 38th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.3517% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.5533% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Mongolia was Russia’s 108th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 93rd in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0112% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0211% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Mongolia

The major share of Russian exports to Mongolia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 51.66% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (57.52% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 17.03% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (16.87% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 10.82% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (8.81% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.91% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (6.60% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
