Russia’s Trade with Switzerland

In the 2nd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Switzerland totaled $1,431,826,470, up 9.07% ($119,074,729) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Switzerland in the 2nd quarter of 2021 were $645,727,545, down 11.59% ($84,640,985) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Switzerland in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $786,098,925, up 34.98% ($203,715,714) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade balance with Switzerland went from a surplus of $147,985,319 in the 2nd quarter of 2020, to a deficit of $140,371,380 in the 2nd quarter of 2021.

Switzerland was Russia’s 26th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 19th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.7566% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.0760% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Switzerland was Russia’s 36th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 20th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.5614% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.0446% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Switzerland was Russia’s 20th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 1.0592% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.1181% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Switzerland

The major share of Russian exports to Switzerland in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 53.55% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (11.84% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 31.24% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (63.03% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.54% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (7.04% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.14% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (12.63% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
