Russia’s Trade with Taiwan
In the 2nd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Taiwan totaled $1,588,647,290, up 37.76% ($435,475,358) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.
Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $1,013,123,290, up 33.53% ($254,394,779) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.
Russia’s imports from Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $575,524,000, up 45.91% ($181,080,579) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.
Russia’s trade surplus with Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2021 was $437,599,290, a 20.13% increase ($73,314,200) over the 2nd quarter of 2020.
Taiwan was Russia’s 22nd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.8395% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.9452% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).
Taiwan was Russia’s 25th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 19th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.8808% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.0852% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).
Taiwan was Russia’s 27th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (up from 28th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.7754% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.7573% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).
Russia’s Exports to Taiwan
The major share of Russian exports to Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 61.64% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (51.96% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 31.46% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (42.85% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.15% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (3.44% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).
The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2021 over the 2nd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $192,888,576;
- Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $37,860,845;
- Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $22,189,200.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2021 over the 2nd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $6,372,094.
