Russia’s Trade with the Philippines

In the 2nd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with the Philippines totaled $228,519,823, up 36.88% ($61,575,837) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2021 were $90,385,668, down 5.20% ($4,957,023) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $138,134,155, up 92.92% ($66,532,860) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade balance with the Philippines went from a surplus of $23,741,396 in the 2nd quarter of 2020, to a deficit of $47,748,487 in the 2nd quarter of 2021.

The Philippines was Russia’s 70th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1208% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1368% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

The Philippines was Russia’s 74th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 67th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0786% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1364% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

The Philippines was Russia’s 57th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (up from 64th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1861% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1375% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to the Philippines

The major share of Russian exports to the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 72.39% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (35.27% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 9.50% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (6.72% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.50% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (0.67% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.15% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (2.44% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.95% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (3.82% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 3.25% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (50.91% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2021 over the 2nd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $45,897,555;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $539,647;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $436,607;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $394,979;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $283,793.
