Russia’s Trade with Tunisia

In the 2nd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Tunisia totaled $158,376,135, up 33.56% ($39,798,463) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $121,243,082, up 19.98% ($20,187,249) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 totaled $37,133,053, up 111.92% ($19,611,214) from the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 was $84,110,029, a 0.69% increase ($576,035) over the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Tunisia was Russia’s 78th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 73rd in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0837% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0972% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Tunisia was Russia’s 70th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (down from 63rd in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1054% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1445% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Tunisia was Russia’s 80th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (up from 87th in the 2nd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0500% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0336% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Tunisia

The major share of Russian exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 39.08% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (6.17% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 15.05% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (13.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 12.63% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (13.74% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 9.02% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (66.14% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.30% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (0.67% in the 2nd quarter of 2020).

  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $8,335,739;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $5,489,592;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $2,526,157;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $2,083,407;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $1,882,876;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,389,064;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $497,500.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 over the 2nd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $61,390,660;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - a decrease of $549,905;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $414,831.

Russia’s Imports from Tunisia

The major share of Russian imports from Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2021 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 24.82% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (20.91% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 17.02% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (24.72% in the 2nd quarter of 2020);
