Russia’s Trade with Cyprus

In the 3rd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Cyprus totaled $78,563,420, up 121.74% ($43,132,964) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2021 totaled $76,745,098, up 123.43% ($42,395,892) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2021 totaled $1,818,322, up 68.17% ($737,072) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2021 was $74,926,776, a 125.22% increase ($41,658,820) over the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Cyprus was Russia’s 93rd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (up from 106th in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0377% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0259% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).

Cyprus was Russia’s 82nd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (up from 93rd in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0575% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0437% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).

Cyprus was Russia’s 126th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0024% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0019% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 9.77% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (62.81% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.65% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (4.49% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 8.13% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (6.68% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.19% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (10.23% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.22% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (7.97% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2021 over the 3rd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $3,006,247;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $1,214,491;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $918,664;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $513,189;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $479,924.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2021 over the 3rd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $14,057,217;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,597,537;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $819,242;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $765,000;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $709,461;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $384,934;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $245,883.
