Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In the 3rd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Indonesia totaled $784,876,171, up 44.18% ($240,484,899) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2021 totaled $120,639,999, up 14.11% ($14,914,731) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2021 totaled $664,236,172, up 51.42% ($225,570,168) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2021 was $543,596,173, a 63.27% increase ($210,655,437) over the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Indonesia was Russia’s 44th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (down from 43rd in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.3765% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3986% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).

Indonesia was Russia’s 73rd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (down from 67th in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0904% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1344% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).

Indonesia was Russia’s 22nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (up from 27th in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.8846% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.7574% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 33.44% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (39.83% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 32.02% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (22.38% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 19.86% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (22.98% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.04% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (2.02% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.78% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (2.94% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);

  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $2,687,808;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $1,670,848;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $1,572,438;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $1,215,417;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2021 over the 3rd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $8,163,024;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $4,810,755;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $3,188,837;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - a decrease of $420,739;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $362,578.
