Russia’s Trade with Taiwan
In the 3rd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Taiwan totaled $1,855,117,206, up 33.15% ($461,815,865) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.
Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 3rd quarter of 2021 totaled $1,214,177,037, up 37.44% ($330,759,980) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.
Russia’s imports from Taiwan in the 3rd quarter of 2021 totaled $640,940,169, up 25.70% ($131,055,885) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.
Russia’s trade surplus with Taiwan in the 3rd quarter of 2021 was $573,236,868, a 53.46% increase ($199,704,095) over the 3rd quarter of 2020.
Taiwan was Russia’s 22nd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (down from 21st in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.8899% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.0202% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).
Taiwan was Russia’s 24th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (down from 19th in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.9103% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.1232% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).
Taiwan was Russia’s 24th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.8536% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.8804% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).
Russia’s Exports to Taiwan
The major share of Russian exports to Taiwan in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 60.16% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (45.35% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 34.31% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (51.68% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.58% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (1.98% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.09% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (0.18% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).
The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 3rd quarter of 2021 over the 3rd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $177,919,038;
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $150,507,560;
- Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $22,824,721;
- Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $14,014,770.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 3rd quarter of 2021 over the 3rd quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $39,994,218;
