Russia’s Trade with Vietnam

In the 3rd quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Vietnam totaled $1,901,333,761, up 7.65% ($135,121,676) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Vietnam in the 3rd quarter of 2021 totaled $580,974,659, up 37.86% ($159,548,282) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Vietnam in the 3rd quarter of 2021 were $1,320,359,102, down 1.82% ($24,426,606) from the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade deficit with Vietnam in the 3rd quarter of 2021 was $739,384,443, a 19.92% decrease ($183,974,888) over the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Vietnam was Russia’s 20th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (down from 17th in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.9120% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.2932% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).

Vietnam was Russia’s 42nd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (down from 35th in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.4355% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.5358% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).

Vietnam was Russia’s 12th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (down from 9th in the 3rd quarter of 2020), accounting for 1.7585% of Russia’s total imports (down from 2.3219% in the 3rd quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Vietnam

The major share of Russian exports to Vietnam in the 3rd quarter of 2021 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 54.59% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (15.08% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 15.11% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (42.38% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 12.42% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (18.68% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.10% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (7.29% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.50% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (6.17% in the 3rd quarter of 2020);

  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $4,525,948;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $4,094,796;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $3,412,446;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $3,377,721;
