Russia’s Trade with the US

In 2011, Russia’s trade with the US totaled $31,008,970,127, up 32.42% ($7,592,418,505) from 2010.

Russia’s exports to the US in 2011 totaled $16,425,300,009, up 33.32% ($4,105,427,930) from 2010.

Russia’s imports from the US in 2011 totaled $14,583,670,118, up 31.42% ($3,486,990,575) from 2010.

Russia’s trade surplus with the US in 2011 was $1,841,629,891, a 50.56% increase ($618,437,355) over 2010.

The US was Russia’s 8th largest trading partner in 2011 (just as in 2010), accounting for 3.7702% of Russia’s total trade (up from 3.7408% in 2010).

The US was Russia’s 9th largest export market in 2011 (up from 11th in 2010), accounting for 3.1788% of Russia’s total exports (up from 3.1027% in 2010).

The US was Russia’s 5th largest supplier in 2011 (down from 4th in 2010), accounting for 4.7696% of Russia’s total imports (down from 4.8476% in 2010).

The major share of Russian exports to the US in 2011 (and in 2010) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 18.34% of Russia’s total exports to the US (23.77% in 2010);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 15.43% of Russia’s total exports to the US (16.94% in 2010);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 4.09% of Russia’s total exports to the US (4.47% in 2010);
