Russia’s Trade with Armenia

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Armenia totaled $1,220,895,048, up 22.82% ($226,852,760) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Armenia in 2012 totaled $920,180,428, up 17.26% ($135,417,624) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Armenia in 2012 totaled $300,714,620, up 43.69% ($91,435,136) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Armenia in 2012 was $619,465,808, a 7.64% increase ($43,982,488) over 2011.

Armenia was Russia’s 65th largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 68th in 2011), accounting for 0.1450% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1209% in 2011).

Armenia was Russia’s 57th largest export market in 2012 (up from 61st in 2011), accounting for 0.1754% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1519% in 2011).

Armenia was Russia’s 65th largest supplier in 2012 (up from 68th in 2011), accounting for 0.0948% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0684% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Armenia

The major share of Russian exports to Armenia in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 52.34% of Russia’s total exports to Armenia (42.88% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 18.95% of Russia’s total exports to Armenia (22.47% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 11.22% of Russia’s total exports to Armenia (10.97% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 7.05% of Russia’s total exports to Armenia (7.87% in 2011);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.27% of Russia’s total exports to Armenia (4.83% in 2011);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 1.05% of Russia’s total exports to Armenia (5.60% in 2011);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Armenia in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $145,192,638;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $7,819,942;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $4,533,651;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $3,989,844;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $3,975,918;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $2,968,055.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Armenia in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - a decrease of $34,329,639;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - a decrease of $7,007,761;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $5,954,005.
