Russia’s Trade with Cyprus

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Cyprus totaled $2,099,750,138, up 43.64% ($637,928,603) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in 2012 totaled $2,067,068,071, up 45.17% ($643,155,671) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in 2012 were $32,682,067, down 13.79% ($5,227,068) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in 2012 was $2,034,386,004, a 46.78% increase ($648,382,739) over 2011.

Cyprus was Russia’s 46th largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 57th in 2011), accounting for 0.2494% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1777% in 2011).

Cyprus was Russia’s 36th largest export market in 2012 (up from 47th in 2011), accounting for 0.3939% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2756% in 2011).

Cyprus was Russia’s 102nd largest supplier in 2012 (just as in 2011), accounting for 0.0103% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0124% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 82.25% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (56.83% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 13.24% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (30.77% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.69% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (1.60% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.62% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (4.19% in 2011).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $891,023,903;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $11,267,995;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $8,781,702;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $7,712,535;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $7,426,701.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $177,694,212;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $35,906,677;
  • Toys, games and sports requisites; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 95) - a decrease of $16,580,526;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $14,248,645.
