In 2012, Russia’s trade with Mongolia totaled $1,915,722,713, up 20.61% ($327,373,250) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Mongolia in 2012 totaled $1,851,391,348, up 23.49% ($352,157,102) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Mongolia in 2012 were $64,331,365, down 27.81% ($24,783,852) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Mongolia in 2012 was $1,787,059,983, a 26.73% increase ($376,940,954) over 2011.

Mongolia was Russia’s 50th largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 55th in 2011), accounting for 0.2275% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1931% in 2011).

Mongolia was Russia’s 40th largest export market in 2012 (up from 45th in 2011), accounting for 0.3528% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2901% in 2011).

The major share of Russian exports to Mongolia in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 73.07% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (61.91% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 8.11% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (9.14% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.41% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (14.69% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.91% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (6.23% in 2011);
