In 2012, Russia’s trade with Sudan was $153,541,970, down 10.28% ($17,587,214) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Sudan in 2012 were $152,958,023, down 10.15% ($17,288,344) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Sudan in 2012 were $583,947, down 33.85% ($298,870) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Sudan in 2012 was $152,374,076, a 10.03% decrease ($16,989,474) over 2011.

Sudan was Russia’s 105th largest trading partner in 2012 (down from 103rd in 2011), accounting for 0.0182% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0208% in 2011).

Sudan was Russia’s 92nd largest export market in 2012 (down from 87th in 2011), accounting for 0.0291% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0329% in 2011).

Sudan was Russia’s 154th largest supplier in 2012 (down from 149th in 2011), accounting for 0.0002% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0003% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Sudan

The major share of Russian exports to Sudan in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 55.57% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (42.55% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.69% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (19.58% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.84% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (3.64% in 2011).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Sudan in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $8,927,659;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $4,634,234;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $2,846,014.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Sudan in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $19,709,497;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $1,831,820;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,143,063;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $1,003,528.

Russia’s Imports from Sudan

The major share of Russian imports from Sudan in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 77.34% of Russia’s total imports from Sudan (97.59% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 14.96% of Russia’s total imports from Sudan (0.71% in 2011).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Sudan in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $80,649;
  • Lac; gums, resins and other vegetable saps and extracts (HS code 13) - an increase of $2,335.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Sudan in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:
