Russia’s Trade with Switzerland

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Switzerland was $13,519,938,651, down 6.21% ($895,565,833) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Switzerland in 2012 were $10,523,404,628, down 8.08% ($924,454,099) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Switzerland in 2012 totaled $2,996,534,023, up 0.97% ($28,888,266) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Switzerland in 2012 was $7,526,870,605, a 11.24% decrease ($953,342,365) over 2011.

Switzerland was Russia’s 16th largest trading partner in 2012 (just as in 2011), accounting for 1.6057% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.7527% in 2011).

Switzerland was Russia’s 16th largest export market in 2012 (just as in 2011), accounting for 2.0055% of Russia’s total exports (down from 2.2155% in 2011).

Switzerland was Russia’s 25th largest supplier in 2012 (down from 23rd in 2011), accounting for 0.9445% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.9706% in 2011).

The major share of Russian exports to Switzerland in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 59.30% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (54.97% in 2011);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 30.18% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (21.68% in 2011);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.46% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (4.82% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.37% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (17.08% in 2011).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Switzerland in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 33.80% of Russia’s total imports from Switzerland (44.98% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 7.06% of Russia’s total imports from Switzerland (7.35% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.06% of Russia’s total imports from Switzerland (3.05% in 2011);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.62% of Russia’s total imports from Switzerland (1.85% in 2011).
