Russia’s Trade with Mexico

In 2013, Russia’s trade with Mexico totaled $1,902,922,257, up 19.94% ($316,412,546) from 2012.

Russia’s exports to Mexico in 2013 totaled $855,361,277, up 73.69% ($362,893,608) from 2012.

Russia’s imports from Mexico in 2013 were $1,047,560,980, down 4.25% ($46,481,062) from 2012.

Russia’s trade deficit with Mexico in 2013 was $192,199,703, a 68.05% decrease ($409,374,670) over 2012.

Mexico was Russia’s 52nd largest trading partner in 2013 (up from 57th in 2012), accounting for 0.2259% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1884% in 2012).

Mexico was Russia’s 58th largest export market in 2013 (up from 64th in 2012), accounting for 0.1622% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0939% in 2012).

Mexico was Russia’s 44th largest supplier in 2013 (down from 42nd in 2012), accounting for 0.3326% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.3448% in 2012).

Russia’s Exports to Mexico

The major share of Russian exports to Mexico in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 50.53% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (18.80% in 2012);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 22.82% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (59.90% in 2012);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 18.94% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (1.01% in 2012);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 5.24% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (6.04% in 2012);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.69% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (1.66% in 2012);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.69% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (3.10% in 2012).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Mexico in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $356,753,549;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $157,981,644;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $16,336,701;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $6,100,417;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $5,280,252.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mexico in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $105,299,712;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $16,879,296;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $7,615,994.

Russia’s Imports from Mexico

The major share of Russian imports from Mexico in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 72.15% of Russia’s total imports from Mexico (67.19% in 2012);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.81% of Russia’s total imports from Mexico (21.48% in 2012);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.28% of Russia’s total imports from Mexico (3.50% in 2012);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.82% of Russia’s total imports from Mexico (5.31% in 2012).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Mexico in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $13,544,362;
