Russia’s Trade with Zimbabwe

In 2013, Russia’s trade with Zimbabwe was $24,579,190, down 35.76% ($13,681,033) from 2012.

Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in 2013 totaled $4,638,939, up 18.35% ($719,381) from 2012.

Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in 2013 were $19,940,251, down 41.93% ($14,400,414) from 2012.

Russia’s trade deficit with Zimbabwe in 2013 was $15,301,312, a 49.70% decrease ($15,119,795) over 2012.

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 141st largest trading partner in 2013 (down from 133rd in 2012), accounting for 0.0029% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0045% in 2012).

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 152nd largest export market in 2013 (down from 147th in 2012), accounting for 0.0009% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0007% in 2012).

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 108th largest supplier in 2013 (down from 100th in 2012), accounting for 0.0063% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0108% in 2012).

Russia’s Exports to Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian exports to Zimbabwe in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 58.76% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (0.78% in 2012);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 22.44% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (32.91% in 2012);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 18.78% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (62.84% in 2012);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.00% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (3.33% in 2012).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $2,722,491;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $582,909.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $1,441,367;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $508,655;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $316,023;
  • Preparations of cereals, flour, starch or milk; bakers’ wares (HS code 19) - a decrease of $150,446;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $130,346;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $28,380.

Russia’s Imports from Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian imports from Zimbabwe in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 97.90% of Russia’s total imports from Zimbabwe (97.95% in 2012);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 2.01% of Russia’s total imports from Zimbabwe (0.29% in 2012);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 0.00% of Russia’s total imports from Zimbabwe (1.70% in 2012).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - an increase of $194,250;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $105,892.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:
