Russia's Trade with Georgia

In the 1st quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with Georgia totaled $156,319,057, up 10.43% ($14,761,742) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to Georgia in the 1st quarter of 2016 totaled $120,418,899, up 3.04% ($3,548,656) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from Georgia in the 1st quarter of 2016 totaled $35,900,158, up 45.42% ($11,213,086) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade surplus with Georgia in the 1st quarter of 2016 was $84,518,741, a 8.31% decrease ($7,664,430) over the 1st quarter of 2015.

Georgia was Russia's 64th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 74th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1606% of Russia's total trade (up from 0.1070% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Georgia was Russia's 56th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 66th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1962% of Russia's total exports (up from 0.1295% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Georgia was Russia's 67th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2016 (up from 76th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0999% of Russia's total imports (up from 0.0587% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

Russia's Exports to Georgia

The major share of Russian exports to Georgia in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 40.26% of Russia's total exports to Georgia (35.89% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 30.66% of Russia's total exports to Georgia (42.35% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 8.70% of Russia's total exports to Georgia (6.52% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.39% of Russia's total exports to Georgia (8.20% in the 1st quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.43% of Russia's total exports to Georgia (2.42% in the 1st quarter of 2015);

  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $1,141,310;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $1,118,077;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $836,392;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $820,274;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $810,766;

The largest declines in Russia's exports to Georgia in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $12,391,067;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $3,397,092;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $845,358;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $479,694;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - a decrease of $448,206.
