Russia's Trade with New Zealand

In the 1st quarter of 2016, Russia's trade with New Zealand was $24,228,951, down 80.38% ($99,242,227) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's exports to New Zealand in the 1st quarter of 2016 were $1,677,197, down 98.36% ($100,414,725) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's imports from New Zealand in the 1st quarter of 2016 totaled $22,551,754, up 5.48% ($1,172,498) from the 1st quarter of 2015.

Russia's trade with New Zealand went from a surplus of $80,712,666 in the 1st quarter of 2015, to a deficit of $20,874,557 in the 1st quarter of 2016.

New Zealand was Russia's 108th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2016 (down from 78th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0249% of Russia's total trade (down from 0.0933% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

New Zealand was Russia's 140th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2016 (down from 67th in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0027% of Russia's total exports (down from 0.1131% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

New Zealand was Russia's 79th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2016 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0628% of Russia's total imports (up from 0.0509% in the 1st quarter of 2015).

The major share of Russian exports to New Zealand in the 1st quarter of 2016 (and in the 1st quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 12.15% of Russia's total exports to New Zealand (98.49% in the 1st quarter of 2015);

  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $13,032;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $6,650;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $6,366;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $5,362.

The largest declines in Russia's exports to New Zealand in the 1st quarter of 2016 over the 1st quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $100,351,631;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $121,592;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $92,703;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $74,920;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $20,496;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $11,892;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $8,244;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - a decrease of $5,980;
  • Preparations of cereals, flour, starch or milk; bakers’ wares (HS code 19) - a decrease of $5,813;
  • Other made up textile articles; sets; worn clothing and worn textile articles; rags (HS code 63) - a decrease of $5,125.
