Russia’s Trade with Hong Kong

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Hong Kong was $196,937,341, down 43.76% ($153,208,901) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Hong Kong in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $166,286,812, down 46.47% ($144,342,622) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Hong Kong in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $30,650,529, down 22.44% ($8,866,279) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Hong Kong in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $135,636,283, a 49.97% decrease ($135,476,343) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Hong Kong was Russia's 67th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 49th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1809% of Russia's total trade (down from 0.2568% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Hong Kong was Russia's 54th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 44th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.2503% of Russia's total exports (down from 0.3393% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Hong Kong was Russia's 74th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 68th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0723% of Russia's total imports (down from 0.0882% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Hong Kong

The major share of Russian exports to Hong Kong in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 59.54% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (72.87% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 11.74% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (5.26% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.80% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (3.39% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 9.53% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (4.29% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.08% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (1.80% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.38% of Russia’s total exports to Hong Kong (9.30% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Hong Kong in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $5,199,953;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $3,994,475;
  • Products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 05) - an increase of $2,492,869;
  • Furskins and artificial fur; manufactures thereof (HS code 43) - an increase of $1,201,278;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $838,886;
  • Lead and articles thereof (HS code 78) - an increase of $552,112.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Hong Kong in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:
