Russia’s Trade with Venezuela

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Venezuela was $94,809,411, down 4.24% ($4,193,788) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Venezuela in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $94,620,683, down 2.54% ($2,465,929) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Venezuela in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $188,728, down 90.15% ($1,727,859) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Venezuela in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $94,431,955, a 0.78% decrease ($738,070) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Venezuela was Russia’s 81st largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0778% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0780% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Venezuela was Russia’s 69th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 71st in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1315% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1221% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Venezuela was Russia’s 142nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 118th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0004% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0040% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Venezuela

The major share of Russian exports to Venezuela in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 66.67% of Russia’s total exports to Venezuela (22.10% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 16.30% of Russia’s total exports to Venezuela (0.31% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 11.03% of Russia’s total exports to Venezuela (0.02% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.78% of Russia’s total exports to Venezuela (16.34% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Venezuela in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $11,584,239;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $468,455;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $441,326.

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 96.55% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (0.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.54% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (0.23% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.37% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (98.68% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).
