Russia’s Trade with Georgia

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Georgia totaled $218,531,392, up 23.05% ($40,929,114) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Georgia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $168,055,521, up 23.44% ($31,913,051) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Georgia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $50,475,871, up 21.75% ($9,016,063) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Georgia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $117,579,650, a 24.18% increase ($22,896,988) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Georgia was Russia’s 65th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 72nd in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1792% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1399% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Georgia was Russia’s 58th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 62nd in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.2336% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1712% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Georgia was Russia’s 66th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 68th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1010% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0875% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Georgia

The major share of Russian exports to Georgia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 38.36% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (45.47% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 24.18% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (28.35% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 13.22% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (6.22% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.67% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (10.74% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.94% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (3.23% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $4,524,392;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $4,304,289;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $2,215,270;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $2,083,302;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $1,349,607;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $1,322,783;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $1,314,354;

  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $519,069.
