In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Libya was $49,204,537, down 31.98% ($23,138,756) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $0, unchanged from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $49,204,537, a 31.98% decrease ($23,138,756) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Libya was Russia’s 101st largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 87th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0404% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0570% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Libya was Russia’s 82nd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 75th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0684% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0910% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

There were no Russia’s imports from Libya both in the 3rd quarter of 2016 and in the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s Exports to Libya

The major share of Russian exports to Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 89.31% of Russia’s total exports to Libya (75.90% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 9.47% of Russia’s total exports to Libya (0.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.00% of Russia’s total exports to Libya (23.04% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - an increase of $4,661,576;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $271,771.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $16,664,650;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $11,256,824;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $155,000.
