Russia’s Trade with Armenia

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Armenia totaled $428,594,431, up 10.20% ($39,670,813) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Armenia in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $331,659,905, up 9.13% ($27,733,762) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Armenia in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $96,934,526, up 14.04% ($11,937,051) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Armenia in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $234,725,379, a 7.22% increase ($15,796,711) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

Armenia was Russia’s 50th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3145% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2974% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Armenia was Russia’s 44th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 46th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3956% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.3687% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Armenia was Russia’s 58th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 59th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1849% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1758% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Armenia

The major share of Russian exports to Armenia in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 45.19% of Russia’s total exports to Armenia (64.10% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 18.02% of Russia’s total exports to Armenia (5.40% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 14.69% of Russia’s total exports to Armenia (15.69% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 7.91% of Russia’s total exports to Armenia (6.33% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.58% of Russia’s total exports to Armenia (4.22% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.11% of Russia’s total exports to Armenia (1.29% in the 4th quarter of 2015);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Armenia in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $11,672,126;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $5,442,221;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $3,374,310;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $1,994,101;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Armenia in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $45,275,265;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $2,114,498;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - a decrease of $1,180,956.

  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 11.52% of Russia’s total imports from Armenia (3.40% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 4.61% of Russia’s total imports from Armenia (1.46% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.96% of Russia’s total imports from Armenia (19.92% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.32% of Russia’s total imports from Armenia (3.32% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
