Russia’s Trade with Chile

In 2016, Russia’s trade with Chile was $641,939,372, down 13.85% ($103,189,719) from 2015.

Russia’s exports to Chile in 2016 were $43,527,834, down 26.25% ($15,494,565) from 2015.

Russia’s imports from Chile in 2016 were $598,411,538, down 12.78% ($87,695,154) from 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Chile in 2016 was $554,883,704, a 11.51% decrease ($72,200,589) over 2015.

Chile was Russia’s 71st largest trading partner in 2016 (down from 69th in 2015), accounting for 0.1372% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1416% in 2015).

Chile was Russia’s 115th largest export market in 2016 (down from 111th in 2015), accounting for 0.0152% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0172% in 2015).

Chile was Russia’s 46th largest supplier in 2016 (down from 41st in 2015), accounting for 0.3283% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.3756% in 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Chile

The major share of Russian exports to Chile in 2016 (and in 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 24.58% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (43.21% in 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 15.35% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (7.41% in 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 13.58% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (4.23% in 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 4.34% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (2.11% in 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.19% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (1.22% in 2015);

  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $503,574;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $357,402;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $304,175;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $254,259;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $240,184;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $222,001;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $217,480;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Chile in 2016 over 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $14,886,964;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $6,050,765;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $3,064,777;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $388,729;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $290,858;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - a decrease of $288,600;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $170,999;
  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - a decrease of $137,438.
