Russia’s Trade with India

In 2016, Russia’s trade with India was $7,710,009,415, down 1.52% ($119,241,724) from 2015.

Russia’s exports to India in 2016 were $5,312,787,268, down 4.64% ($258,640,007) from 2015.

Russia’s imports from India in 2016 totaled $2,397,222,147, up 6.17% ($139,398,283) from 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with India in 2016 was $2,915,565,121, a 12.01% decrease ($398,038,290) over 2015.

India was Russia’s 17th largest trading partner in 2016 (just as in 2015), accounting for 1.6483% of Russia’s total trade (up from 1.4877% in 2015).

India was Russia’s 16th largest export market in 2016 (up from 18th in 2015), accounting for 1.8609% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.6215% in 2015).

India was Russia’s 19th largest supplier in 2016 (just as in 2015), accounting for 1.3153% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.2360% in 2015).

The major share of Russian exports to India in 2016 (and in 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 22.94% of Russia’s total exports to India (21.11% in 2015);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 17.82% of Russia’s total exports to India (18.16% in 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 14.69% of Russia’s total exports to India (19.85% in 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 9.01% of Russia’s total exports to India (6.84% in 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.93% of Russia’s total exports to India (6.52% in 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.31% of Russia’s total exports to India (4.45% in 2015);
