Russia’s Trade with Mongolia
In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Mongolia was $269,692,636, down 15.29% ($48,690,610) from the 4th quarter of 2015.
Russia’s exports to Mongolia in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $260,112,391, down 15.94% ($49,333,075) from the 4th quarter of 2015.
Russia’s imports from Mongolia in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $9,580,245, up 7.19% ($642,465) from the 4th quarter of 2015.
Russia’s trade surplus with Mongolia in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $250,532,146, a 16.63% decrease ($49,975,540) over the 4th quarter of 2015.
Mongolia was Russia’s 60th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 58th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1979% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2435% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
Mongolia was Russia’s 49th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 45th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3103% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.3754% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
Mongolia was Russia’s 96th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 98th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0183% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0185% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
Russia’s Exports to Mongolia
The major share of Russian exports to Mongolia in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 60.36% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (74.69% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 16.05% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (12.06% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 11.36% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (4.95% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.94% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (4.22% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.97% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (1.75% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

- Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $1,966,595;
- Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $1,379,677;
- Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $1,314,578;
- Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $954,932;
- Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $909,772;
- Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $851,745;

- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 20.94% of Russia’s total imports from Mongolia (10.97% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 10.68% of Russia’s total imports from Mongolia (5.28% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
