Russia’s Trade with Montenegro

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Montenegro totaled $3,560,631, up 128.02% ($1,999,082) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $1,665,712, up 58.11% ($612,182) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Montenegro in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $1,894,919, up 273.00% ($1,386,900) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade balance with Montenegro went from a surplus of $545,511 in the 4th quarter of 2015, to a deficit of $229,207 in the 4th quarter of 2016.

Montenegro was Russia’s 146th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 157th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0026% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0012% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Montenegro was Russia’s 144th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 148th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0020% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0013% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Montenegro was Russia’s 120th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 132nd in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0036% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0011% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Montenegro

The major share of Russian exports to Montenegro in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 37.77% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (1.64% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 26.40% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (15.94% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 24.38% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (35.94% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.33% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (1.36% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.82% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (37.28% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $554,252;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $158,578;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $115,183;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $92,097;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $31,890;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $27,454;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $22,391;
  • Ceramic products (HS code 69) - an increase of $16,209;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $13,875;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $8,195;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $7,069.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $369,016;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $52,883;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $17,771.

The major share of Russian imports from Montenegro in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 53.25% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (0.00% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 28.90% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (73.11% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.36% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (1.26% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
