In 2016, Russia’s trade with Ukraine was $10,231,008,728, down 31.64% ($4,734,721,358) from 2015.

Russia’s exports to Ukraine in 2016 were $6,280,263,278, down 32.43% ($3,013,885,860) from 2015.

Russia’s imports from Ukraine in 2016 were $3,950,745,450, down 30.34% ($1,720,835,498) from 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Ukraine in 2016 was $2,329,517,828, a 35.69% decrease ($1,293,050,362) over 2015.

Ukraine was Russia’s 14th largest trading partner in 2016 (down from 11th in 2015), accounting for 2.1873% of Russia’s total trade (down from 2.8437% in 2015).

Ukraine was Russia’s 14th largest export market in 2016 (down from 12th in 2015), accounting for 2.1998% of Russia’s total exports (down from 2.7050% in 2015).

Ukraine was Russia’s 10th largest supplier in 2016 (down from 8th in 2015), accounting for 2.1676% of Russia’s total imports (down from 3.1047% in 2015).

The major share of Russian exports to Ukraine in 2016 (and in 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 28.22% of Russia’s total exports to Ukraine (47.19% in 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 16.30% of Russia’s total exports to Ukraine (11.62% in 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.14% of Russia’s total exports to Ukraine (5.92% in 2015);
