Russia’s Trade with Zimbabwe

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Zimbabwe was $13,305,144, down 9.57% ($1,407,955) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $28,036, down 97.16% ($960,309) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $13,277,108, down 3.26% ($447,646) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $13,249,072, a 4.03% increase ($512,663) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 124th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 126th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0098% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0113% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 184th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 149th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0000% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0012% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 94th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 91st in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0253% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0284% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian exports to Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 53.29% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (0.17% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 46.71% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (0.00% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.00% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (85.24% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.00% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (14.60% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $14,940;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $13,096.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $842,457;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $144,254;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,634.

Russia’s Imports from Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian imports from Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.91% of Russia’s total imports from Zimbabwe (99.73% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $126,952;
  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $69,704.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $611,884.
