Russia’s Trade with Cyprus

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Cyprus totaled $85,897,141, up 40.63% ($24,816,717) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $82,713,616, up 41.81% ($24,386,262) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $3,183,525, up 15.64% ($430,455) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $79,530,091, a 43.11% increase ($23,955,807) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Cyprus was Russia’s 84th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 88th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0668% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0629% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Cyprus was Russia’s 72nd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0993% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0952% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Cyprus was Russia’s 111th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 109th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0070% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0077% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 56.94% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (69.80% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 7.35% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (8.93% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.09% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (4.12% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.90% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (14.29% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.72% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (1.84% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.18% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (0.78% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $6,383,503;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $1,961,530;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $979,283;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $838,790;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $509,518;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $350,968.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $3,616,563;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $3,342,039.
