Russia’s Trade with Ghana

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Ghana totaled $71,872,094, up 49.34% ($23,746,990) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $56,049,823, up 48.63% ($18,337,827) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $15,822,271, up 51.95% ($5,409,163) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $40,227,552, a 47.36% increase ($12,928,664) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Ghana was Russia’s 90th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 93rd in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0559% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0496% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Ghana was Russia’s 80th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 84th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0673% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0615% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Ghana was Russia’s 89th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 91st in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0350% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0291% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Ghana

The major share of Russian exports to Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 84.93% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (55.74% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.66% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (18.10% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.57% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (3.59% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.57% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (21.50% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $26,585,504;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,770,886.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $6,044,082;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $3,627,042;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $182,017.

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.77% of Russia’s total imports from Ghana (98.36% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.22% of Russia’s total imports from Ghana (1.64% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Ghana in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
