Russia’s Trade with Slovenia

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Slovenia totaled $265,433,658, up 47.72% ($85,747,978) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $62,797,788, up 113.77% ($33,421,955) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Slovenia in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $202,635,870, up 34.81% ($52,326,023) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Slovenia in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $139,838,082, a 15.63% increase ($18,904,068) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Slovenia was Russia’s 59th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 60th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2065% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1851% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Slovenia was Russia’s 77th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 91st in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0754% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0479% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Slovenia was Russia’s 38th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 40th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.4482% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.4199% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Slovenia

The major share of Russian exports to Slovenia in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 83.41% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (57.51% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.00% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (7.70% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.91% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (28.81% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.12% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (1.51% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.72% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (1.14% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.40% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (1.49% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $35,489,971;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $1,401,636;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $586,971;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $334,397;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $280,486;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $261,863;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $247,958;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - an increase of $196,814.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $5,208,767;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - a decrease of $282,493;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - a decrease of $224,034.

Russia’s Imports from Slovenia

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 20.64% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (24.76% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.23% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (6.39% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.58% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (4.89% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.88% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (2.57% in the 1st quarter of 2016);

  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $8,888,009;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $5,182,850;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,965,635;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $1,935,819;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,753,316;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $1,464,663;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $743,491;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $701,366.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Slovenia in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Preparations of cereals, flour, starch or milk; bakers’ wares (HS code 19) - a decrease of $1,328,980;
  • Miscellaneous articles of base metal (HS code 83) - a decrease of $667,095;
