Russia’s Trade with the United Kingdom

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with the United Kingdom totaled $2,767,265,213, up 18.16% ($425,242,269) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to the United Kingdom in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $1,896,283,117, up 12.45% ($209,881,429) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from the United Kingdom in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $870,982,096, up 32.85% ($215,360,840) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with the United Kingdom in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $1,025,301,021, a 0.53% decrease ($5,479,411) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

The United Kingdom was Russia’s 14th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 13th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 2.1526% of Russia’s total trade (down from 2.4125% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

The United Kingdom was Russia’s 13th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 11th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 2.2754% of Russia’s total exports (down from 2.7519% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

The United Kingdom was Russia’s 12th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.9263% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.8315% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to the United Kingdom

The major share of Russian exports to the United Kingdom in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 87.78% of Russia’s total exports to the United Kingdom (81.45% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.87% of Russia’s total exports to the United Kingdom (1.89% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 2.59% of Russia’s total exports to the United Kingdom (6.70% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
