Russia’s Trade with Uruguay

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Uruguay totaled $45,786,131, up 36.97% ($12,357,947) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $14,570,012, up 6.73% ($918,830) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $31,216,119, up 57.84% ($11,439,117) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Uruguay in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $16,646,107, a 171.74% increase ($10,520,287) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Uruguay was Russia’s 101st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 98th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0328% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0307% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Uruguay was Russia’s 107th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 102nd in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0174% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0205% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Uruguay was Russia’s 80th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 82nd in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0560% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0467% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Uruguay

The major share of Russian exports to Uruguay in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 92.85% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (88.28% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.53% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (8.89% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.39% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (1.40% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.89% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (1.25% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $1,622,529;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $55,440.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $575,282;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $206,340;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $70,998.

Russia’s Imports from Uruguay

The major share of Russian imports from Uruguay in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 94.81% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (92.62% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 3.01% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (0.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.17% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (7.19% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).
