Russia’s Trade with Georgia

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Georgia totaled $258,947,018, up 18.49% ($40,415,626) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Georgia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $172,734,975, up 2.78% ($4,679,454) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Georgia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $86,212,043, up 70.80% ($35,736,172) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Georgia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $86,522,932, a 26.41% decrease ($31,056,718) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Georgia was Russia’s 62nd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 68th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1771% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1792% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Georgia was Russia’s 55th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 58th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2024% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2336% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Georgia was Russia’s 60th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 69th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1417% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1010% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Georgia

The major share of Russian exports to Georgia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 39.57% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (38.36% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 18.80% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (24.18% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 17.77% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (13.22% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.83% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (9.67% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.22% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (4.26% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);

  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $1,046,319;

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $578,543;
