Russia’s Trade with Nicaragua

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Nicaragua was $17,015,933, down 2.09% ($363,948) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $9,834,957, down 28.59% ($3,936,625) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $7,180,976, up 99.01% ($3,572,677) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $2,653,981, a 73.89% decrease ($7,509,302) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Nicaragua was Russia’s 127th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 133rd in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0116% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0143% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Nicaragua was Russia’s 118th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 125th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0115% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0191% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Nicaragua was Russia’s 107th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 110th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0118% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0072% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Nicaragua

The major share of Russian exports to Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 67.01% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (41.99% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 20.42% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (29.56% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 8.81% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (3.34% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.76% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (15.24% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.00% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (1.44% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $857,283;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $452,005;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $235,715;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $119,866.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $1,727,866;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $1,648,617;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - a decrease of $851,565;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $407,458;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $264,248;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $242,583;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $198,780;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $67,471;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $40,993;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - a decrease of $39,462;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $38,083;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - a decrease of $30,152.

Russia’s Imports from Nicaragua

The major share of Russian imports from Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.16% of Russia’s total imports from Nicaragua (99.29% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
